Clay Griessmeyer

NOT A MEMBER OF OUR FIRM — JUST A FRIEND YOU’D BE LUCKY TO HAVE IN YOUR CORNER

Clay Griessmeyer isn’t a member of McCarthy Motorcycle Law — but he’s a longtime friend, a trusted co-counsel, and one of the best trial lawyers we’ve ever seen in action. We work with him on serious cases here in California, and we’re proud to have him in the rider justice community. That’s why he gets a spot on this site.

Clay’s been fighting for people hurt on two wheels — motorcycles, bicycles, and everything in between — since 2008. If it rolls, and someone got taken out by a careless driver, Clay has probably stood up for them.

A Trial Lawyer Who Rides, Fights, and Delivers

Clay isn’t just a litigator — he’s a real-deal trial lawyer who has studied under Gerry Spence. He’s tried cases in courtrooms across the United States, mostly in California and Wisconsin, and he’s earned verdicts that made headlines — including what’s believed to be the largest jury verdict for a bicycle injury case in Wisconsin history: over $15.1 million.

That win wasn’t luck. It was built on years of preparation, courtroom skill, and a deep belief in standing up for people when everything goes sideways.

Clay has tried personal injury and criminal defense cases. He’s licensed in both Wisconsin and California, and he’s never — not once — represented an insurance company or worked for a defense firm. His entire career has been dedicated to helping real people, never corporations.

A Lifelong Rider and Advocate

Clay doesn’t just talk like someone who cares about two wheels — he lives it.

He’s a year-round bike commuter, a competitive triathlete and cyclist, and a strong advocate for safer streets. He served on the Wisconsin Bike Fed board (including time as Secretary), volunteered with Free Bikes for Kids, and has even plowed snow off local bike paths in winter — just so people could keep riding.

He brings that same mindset to every case — whether it’s:

From fatal crashes in tight city traffic to rural roads where no one saw it coming, Clay represents riders with fire, focus, and genuine care. He puts people first — always.

Outside the Courtroom

Clay is a husband, a dad to two kids, a dog lover, and someone who’s worked real jobs outside the law — bartender, bouncer, lifeguard, concrete laborer, swim coach, and even an elementary school teacher. That kind of background sticks with you. It’s probably why juries listen when he talks — and why his clients trust him so deeply.

He’s Not Part of Our Firm — But We’re Glad to Have Him in the Fight

Clay Griessmeyer isn’t a full-time member of McCarthy Motorcycle Law. But when we’ve got a serious case — the kind where the stakes are high and the client needs the best — he’s someone we’re proud to call.

If you ever get the chance to work with him, you’re in good hands.
